Jólakötturinn - The Yule Cat

A retro comic book style interpretation of the Jólakötturinn (Icelandic Yule Cat) for my Winter 2025 apparel collection.

In Icelandic folklore, this massive feline prowls the snowy countryside on Christmas Eve, eating anyone who hasn't received new clothes for the holidays. I wanted to capture the creature in a vintage pulp horror aesthetic, utilizing heavy halftone textures and a limited color palette to evoke the feel of 1970's print media.

This design was created specifically for garment printing (DTG/Screenprint) with clean line work and bold contrast.
